Ana "Anita" Moreno selected as the new Santa Cruz County Recorder

Anita Moreno

On December 20, 2022, at the regular Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board voted to appoint Ana “Anita” Moreno as the new Santa Cruz County Recorder, effective January 1, 2023. Ms. Moreno was appointed to replace Santa Cruz County Suzanne “Suzie” Sainz, who is retiring on December 31, 2022.

The incoming County Recorder Anita Moreno said, “I am very honored that the Board of Supervisors have confidence in me for this position. The County Recorder’s position to record documents is of course very important, but my focus is to be an impartial party and take voter registration and hit it head-on, and get voters to actually go to the polls, to do early ballot voting, whatever the desire to vote is. I feel like it’s a shame that this county is the lowest in the state, probably in the nation for voter turnout and I would like to make a difference.”

Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bruce Bracker said, “ I would like to thank the five candidates who came in for an interview. It takes a certain type of person to put their name into the public venue for public service. Anita has the community engagement and the qualifications that can lead the office over the next two years.”
