We have heard concerns about how COVID-19 may affect the candidate filing process.
At this time, our office remains ready to accept candidate filings. Because the deadline to file is determined by statute (A.R.S. §§16-311, 16-314), our office is unable to extend the filing deadline. Anyone who wants to be a Write-in Candidate for the General Election in countywide races must file with our office by September 24, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
Because of public health concerns, we will now be accepting filings by certified mail. If you file by mail, the filing must be received in our office by 5:00 p.m. on September 24, 2020. Please complete the “Filing by Mail” form HERE and return it with your filing paperwork.
In order to drop off your filing in person you will need to schedule an appointment, please call our office at (520) 375-7808 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do our best to accommodate these requests on a first-come, first-served basis. Generally, if you want to avoid a crowd, make your appointment as soon as possible. We anticipate a high volume of candidates the closer it gets to the deadline, leading to a more crowded office.
Please feel free to share this information. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our office.
