If you plan to run for any county office, you MUST file the Statement of Interest form with the Santa Cruz County Elections Department. A candidate must file the Statement of Interest form before collecting petition signatures, any nomination petition signatures collected before the Statement of Interest is filed are invalid and subject to challenge according to A.R.S. §16-311 (H).
Candidates for precinct committeemen and elected office for special taxing districts that are established pursuant to title 48 do not need to file a Statement of Interest form according to A.R.S. §16-341 (I).
The Statement of Organization is only required if the candidate receives contributions or makes expenditures, in any combination, of at least $1,300.00 and must be filed in the Elections Department within ten (10) days after meeting the monetary threshold. (A.R.S. §§ 16-906 & 16-931)
If there is no financial activity, check the box located at the bottom of the first page. Fill in the rest of the information on the first and second pages and submit both pages to the Elections Department. It is not necessary to complete the whole 65-page documentation.
