Santa Cruz County Health Code requires that at least one person in charge (PIC) per shift of a food service operation or retail food establishment must have Manager Certification training or an equivalent approved training prior to the business being licensed. Proof of completion will be required to obtain the proper food license. In addition Santa Cruz County requires all food-handling employees to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate. The person in charge at the Food Establishment is responsible for ensuring all food-handling employees obtain this certification. The certificate(s) must be visible or readily accessible and kept at the establishment for Health Inspections.
Santa Cruz County is currently not offering in-person food handler training. Please refer to the link below to access online food handler training.
